While the history of Kyoto ware can be traced back to the late 16th century, Touan has brought technical innovation to its pottery, making it stand out from the rest of the crowd. The plates produced by Touan are all unique in that no two plates have the exact same design. The pattern on the plates is known as Hana-kessho, or “flower crystal.” The proprietary paint used by Touan crystallizes and forms beautiful flower shapes as it cools. Enjoy quality artistry that balances tradition with innovation. These plates are microwave/dishwasher safe, but cannot be used in ovens.
